| My garden By loftyes See comments 2008-03-14 | I'm still tweaking the plantings for the north side of the garden, however, all the veggies are heirloom varieties. You'll soon see areas that are blocks turn to circles for the pole beans and such. The circle in the middle is my "mid garden" work area, sitting area with a couple of chairs and the chiminea. Happy Gardening everyone!! |
| Planting Pole bean with Corn? By roystahl See comments 2008-03-14 | Nice garden layout by the way. Do you plan to plant some pole beans in with your corn? I see that it is pretty close. Some peole do this because beans add nitrogen to the soil and corn is a heavy feeder. The beans can also climb on the corn while growning. |
| pole bean and corn By loftyes See comments 2008-03-17 | thanx roy, yeah, I was actually thinking of moving the Kentucky Wonder Wax beans and planting them with the corn. After they get established, was planning on growing some winter squash around them but haven't decided yet. It's all about companion planting this year. I've been thinking about moving the cabbage over to where the cucumbers will be with some onions or more leeks (love leeks). Still need a place for the rutabagas, plenty of time though :-) |
