that's a whole lotta tomatoes there phil...I can only imagine your canning season...it must go nonstop for a month :-) where do you get your seeds from? Me: Seed Savers, Jung and RH Shumway. Leeks, lettuce, spinach and tomatoes are started. This week I'm starting more lettuce, spinach, leeks; cabbage, rutabagas and asparagus going in the ground. Happy gardening!!

Hey philman! I got my asparagus from Walmart's at the beginning of March; 2 yr crowns also, Mary Washington and Purple Passion. They are slow growing...was getting worried there for a while. Spinach, all 4 lettuces, radishes and peas are doing real well. The tomatoes, leeks, eggplant and peppers I have in my seed starting shelf are ready to go in the ground, just want to make sure it stays warm enough. I got a book on garden projects and built a "pea/bean" house ...very cool, peas are just a climbin'. When they're done, I'll have the Lima beans grow on it. BTW, where are you? I'm in Federalsburg near Seaford. Happy gardening!

We use to live in Westfield in the late 60's Philman...practically neighbors :-) I posted some pics of the bean/pea house I built in the pictures forum for you to check out. The peas are about half way up the side now...very cool to watch. If you get a chance, buy the book I got the design from. It's got some cheap and easy projects to do. Another great book is Easy Garden Projects to Make, Build & Grow. My next project is to make the "stand alone spigot" so I don't have to haul the hose 120' every time I need to water.

Hey Philman...my asparagus finally sprouted. After that huge rain storm we had last week...12 of the 18 plants are going strong...was just an inch of tilling it under and starting over. Tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, lettuce, radishes and peas going strong. Planted the bush beans last week. Finally received my sweet potatoes in the mail, just waiting for the sun to come back to plant the rest of the garden. Patience is a gardeners virtue my friend :-)
