If you planted both in same pot i would move one out. the canes bear fruit only on 1 year and 2 year and some times on 3 year canes then die. so I hope you have a big pot so the roots can spread out and make new canes. the Verticillium is spread in the soil and roots so 2 pots can grow close together.(no touchy)and clean tools often. hope this helps.

looking at your lay out next year you might want to put your potatos in bags ( get 15 year garden frabric cut into 2 feet by 4 feet size fold in half so looks like pillow case stitch the sides together turn inside out role up to make short then fill about 2 inch dirt put seeds in and cover wait and each few days when the potatos grow cover with more dirt and unrole the bag leave some of the top green out of dirt at the end of season dump bag out will have 2 feet tall bag full of potatos ) keep water every few days potatos do not like dry dry soil more water the less nobs on round potatos. try a rose finn apple finger potato ILOVETHEM thin skin cook with skin on. hope this helps or you can put in pots or type in potato bags and pay someone lots of $ I like the bags fold up after season less space and if damaged can sew new ones.(look at pic of garden in veg pic and videos "large square foot 2009"

That sounds like a great way to raise potatoes. I think I will try it for sure. Thanks for the great Tip. I will check out your garden.

your squash is a vine and will grow out 5 to 6 feet round you may want to grow up with a trellis so do not shade out other plants and kill and this year for your potatos find some one with cats and ask if you can have a empty square container or round that kitty litter came in cut off bottom set on potatos and cover with some dirt as it grows that way you will get more potatos and if you like small new potatos after flowers die dig around the top of the plant to find small ones. if storeing potatos for winter let soil dry out a little after plant turns brown dump out do not wash them just brush off most dirt (try not to damage skin) let harden off out side out of sun and rain then pack away look up on internet the right way but i see only a small amount of potatos in garden plan so looks like eat one plant when you want hope this helps.

The small amount of potatoes that I've planted are doing very well. I planted some sweet potatoes in big deep planters on the porch, they are coming along. The squash has grown alot these last few days. I will take some more pictures and post. I appreciate your comments. I'm new to this and learning but enjoying it so far. I'm going to plant some corn farther back from the planter. Next year will put in another planter. The broccoli is doing well. I have 2 eggplants. How tall will they get?

I have some holes in my green bean leaves. Don't see any bugs and the green beans are all that they have chewed on so far. What is best to get rid of any bugs?
