On the new 3.54 the potatos should have a early date to start indoors
A week or two before your planned potato planting date, set your seed Potatos somewhere where they will be exposed to some warmth (between 60 and 70 F.) and lots of light. This will make them to begin sprouting.
then you can cut Seed potatos into golf ball size with each new ball have one or two eyes. then let dry out for 2 to 3 days so potato does not rot in ground.
(cover from hard frost) I grow mine in bags and to start with, place all bags in small area then cover with table cloth(old style fuzzy back and plastic top ) when frost is a threat, after frost move bags to space for full grown plants.
(I make own potato bags)Hope this helps.

I agree with your suggestion, but in general gardeners don't start potatoes indoors. Eventually if we get some additional tips added to the software, this may be something that we add.
