Post Planting Planning
This is our first year of planting a small raised bed garden so space it a premium. Is there any way to use plangarden.com to actually decide which veggies should go where and how much room they would take up? It would be great is a row of beans, when placed on the garden actually covered the amount garden that is required. That way planning what gets planted where becomes a simple drag and drop exercise.

Post Distance around plants
This is a good feature idea.
I have this planned for the next BIG release of the software which will include adding a larger structured database to the project.
The current thinking is that you can turn on and off "Plant Spacing". When on you will see a circle around the plant and row marker that shows the amount of space that you want around a plant. There will be a few different defaults in the database. One for row planting (what you find on the back of seed packages) one for square foot gardening which is generally more compact and either one for wide rows or customizeable by users.

If this will work for you, let me know as this is still a proposed feature. I have the data structure in place, but no code supporting it yet.

I have yet to look into the square foot gardening (went to the library today for the book but they dont work mondays) but to me square foot gardening sounds like something pretty specialised that people only go to after reading the book.

What I was suggesting was something a little more like battleships, the game. When you drag a cabbage, or row of cabbages if row is selected, it gives you a shaded area around the plant that represents the plant spacing information. The software doesnt have to actually prevent you planting things too close together, just use the shading as an advisory. Being able to turn it on or off or even have a third option for squarefoot gardens would be a good idea. Just need to make sure that the shaded area can be rotated to encompass all shapes of garden.

I like the idea of shading rather than circles. That'd look a lot tidier.
