Here’s to another year of gardening! It’s a late start this year due to life’s ever-so-timely intervention, but I’m sure it’ll be another good one. The beds are currently full of weeds, and we’re debating the rental of a soil cutter and rear-tine tiller to prep the ground again this year. Our first step was to plant over 100 seeds indoors! With our daughter’s help, we planted a wide variety of vegetables and flowers that I hope I can find room for! In addition, we’re continually adding more bulbs to the front garden to make it as low-maintenance as possible for our parents. We’ve been doing some companion planting the past two years, and I hope to continue by adding silvermound and marigolds as well as some great “lure” plants like dill and sunflowers for those beneficial insects! As always, I start out the spring with big intentions and over the course of the next couple of months we’ll see what is truly feasible. We’ll see how it goes!

Sounds like me! I had sunflowers for wind breaks last year: worked a treat and the birds loved them. Must try dill as well as the marigolds in the raised beds with the veggies!
