I have approx 36 feet of road frontage that I converted to flower beds last year and spend most of my time working on maintaining. Today I have been adding edging to it alongside the sidewalk so that the weed block will not show and that the mulch will actually stay where I put it. The only concern I have with this is that the sidewalk plow may grab it come next winter, but we will see. I did have one piece of edging around a tree fall victim to the snow plow that was hired to do this yard but it was easily replaced. This pertains to my garden because I use the edge facing the apartment to plant any vegetables I decide to have (I live in a single story duplex and have the apartment closest to the road and this is my second summer there) The flowers are so pretty to passerbyes and the vegetables help fill in bare spots.
