Not really new but starting a new venture…

I’ve been raising alpacas for the past 7yrs. The last 4yrs I’ve been living on a little farm with them. Well as those of you know livestock is an iffy subject even if they are insureable. So this year I’ve found my budget tight and looking for a way to continue to stay home with my kids.

Oh yea, I’m a single mom of two little girls, my oldest is 7yrs old and the baby is 17 months. Being a full time mom has always been my first priority which is why I choose farming. Divorce set the need in motion more then ever though.

So the new venture. With ends failing to be met I’ve had to think outside the box to continue the lifestyle of full time mom. So after a lot of research and contemplation I’ve decided to join many other farms in their Community Supported Agriculture, or also known as CSA.

I’ve been gardening for the past 4yrs. A little more garden every year till now I grow almost all my own veggies during the summer. Or at least the veggies I know my little family will eat.

Next year I’ll plan on planting for 20 families. I have the space and I have the time. I’ll learn alot between now and then about the optimum times to plant, what to plant, how much to plant, etc. But I love researching and I’m excited about this new venture. It’s not much more then what I’ve been doing now, just expanded. A few more crops as well.

It should be an interesting 6 months of planning before and learning. I look forward to using this site as well as many others to aide me in my learning and plans.

I’ll try to keep ya updated on how it goes.
